Heritage Trades and Crafts Workshop Program

BlacksmithingThe blacksmithing workshops are conducted by Australian Champion blacksmith and farrier, Terry Drennan. All blacksmithing workshops include expert instruction, all materials, and morning/afternoon tea and lunch on all days. All blacksmithing workshops are for participants aged 16 years and older. A new workshop, Flowers in Steel is designed as an introduction to blacksmithing. Participants will learn basic forge work and make a decorative flower arrangement. Time: 8:00am-4:30pm Beginners
Participants learn basic forge work by making a range of tools including coal chisel, hot cutter, round punch, oval punch, centre punch and tongs. Time: 8.30am-4.30pm Advanced
After completing the beginners workshop, participants are eligible to attend the advanced workshop where they learn more advanced techniques, including ornamental iron work and forge welding by making a decorative fire poker and rake. Time: 8.30am-4.30pm Project
Participants who have completed the beginners and advanced workshops are eligible to continue to improve their skills by making a range of items. Time: 7.00am-4.00pm Advanced Project (4 days)
People who have completed at least one project workshop at Cobb+Co Museum are eligible to participate in this more advanced project workshop which will be conducted over two consecutive weekends. Time: 7.00am-4.00pm
