Carnival of Flowers celebrations at Cobb+Co Museum

From horse-drawn omnibus rides to an exhibition that celebrates Queensland's 150th birthday, Cobb+Co Museum will add its own colour and fun to this year's Carnival of Flowers.

See Queens Park from a different perspective on board the horse-drawn omnibus as it travels along Lindsay Street, Sunday 20 September, 9.30am - 12.00pm and 1.00pm - 3.30pm.

Tickets are $5 per person and $15 per family for the return trip.

Join in the sausage sizzle under the Ponderosa Pine out the front from 11.00am - 2.00pm and play some old time games from 12.00pm - 1.00pm.

Also at the Museum over the carnival period will be the new exhibition Make It Modern 1959-2059, which provides a snapshot of Toowoomba in 1959 and looks at where we will be in 2059.

Featuring fashion, fads, appliances and Carnival of Flowers memorabilia from 1959, this exhibition highlights just how far technology has come in 50 years.

A feature of the exhibition will be the cubby house where children can dress up and play with toys from 1959.

The Make It Modern exhibition was developed with a grant from the Q150 Community Funding Program.

Three travelling exhibitions from State Archives will also be on show at Cobb+Co Museum until 27 September. Gain an insight into Queensland's past through the State's 150 most influential documents, rarely-seen archival records and iconic photos from The Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail archives.

To receive regular updates on Cobb+Co Museum phone 4639 1971 or email inquiries@cobbandco.qm.qld.gov.au.

The Cobb and Co. Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is open daily from 10am - 4pm, except Good Friday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day. Thanks to Toowoomba Regional Council; admission is free to all council residents on presentation of proof of address.
