The walls on the extension to the vehicle gallery are nearly finished.

The walls are starting to go up around the heritage training centre and work is still continuing on the footings for the walls on the main part of the extension on Lindsay Street.

The walls on the National Carriage Gallery extension are starting to rise and the floor of the main extension on the south-western side of the Museum is starting to take shape with the concrete for the footings for the walls and part of the floor being poured.

3 September 2009

September update

The site for the National Carriage Factory development at Cobb+Co Museum has started to take shape.

Earthworks are nearly complete and Wagners Concrete have conducted the first concrete pour for the wall footings.

Museum entrance to move

From 5 October 2009, the Museum entrance and Gift Shop will be closed and relocated to the Cobbs Coffee Shop.

The Cobbs Coffee Shop entrance is further north on Lindsay Street and will be the main entrance to the Museum until mid-2010.

Turning of the sod

The Turning of the first sod of our National Carriage Factory Development was held on 9 July 2009.

The ceremony was performed by Living Legend Donor Clive Armitage, Member for Toowoomba North Kerry Shine MP, National Carriage Factory Campaign Committee Chair, Dr Mary Wagner and Living Legend Donor Conchita Armitage.

Local business wins building contract

Local construction company Laing O'Rourke is the successful tenderer for the construction of our National Carriage Factory Development.

We will be open to the public throughout construction which began on 13 July 2009.

The new facility is expected to be open to the public in September 2010.

Road closure

From 13 July 2009, the driveway to the TAFE ringroad on the south side of the Museum has been closed permanently to public traffic.
