On now

Queensland is celebrating its centenary, the Carnival of Flowers is 10-years-old and Princess Alexandra is visiting Toowoomba. The year is 1959.

Travel back to 1959, compare it to today and look forward to where we will be in 2059 in our new exhibition Make It Modern 1959-2059.

The exhibition looks at the major aspects of people's lifestyles including fashion, fads, furniture, holidays, families, entertainment and education.

Highlights of the exhibition include an FC Holden panel van, 1959 Carnival of Flowers Queen crown and one of the first television cameras used in Toowoomba.

The children will also love exploring the cubby house where they can dress up and play with toys popular in 1959.

This development of this exhibition has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Q150 Community Funding Program.
