Tip dray

Description:  This dray has been constructed of hardwood throughout which was necessary for use in shifting gravel or manure. As the loads were heavy and usually only one horse used, the tip dray was smaller than the other drays only 1.5 m wide and 1.8 m in length. The simple tipping system is in the front of the vehicle between the shafts. There is no front board or brake on this dray.

Colour:  Unpainted.

History:  This was also a useful and common vehicle on the farms around Toowoomba up to the 1950s. As well, tip drays were found transporting blue metal for road construction work around the towns in addition to undertaking general cartage work. (Bolton Collection)

Registration: H14882
