Street wagonette

Description: This slightly larger version of the wagonette with a canoe front, has semi-elliptical side springs and seats up to six on the rear side seats. The hood, a standard feature on all these vehicles, is still intact. This version is fitted with a pole for two horses. Colour: Black body with beige lining, dark green around the seat; dark green undercarriage with black lining and beige highlights. History: Wagonettes came in a variety of forms from smaller versions for private use to larger examples like this one used as taxis. Wagonettes seating up to 16 passengers were standard public transport in larger towns and cities. Dated c. 1870 this vehicle was driven from Sydney to Grandchester by early settlers of that district.
