Straight shaft brake sulky
| |
Description: This sulky has a tray with hinged tail-gate, sarven hubs, a brake and very long shafts which made it suitable for breaking in horses. The 2.8 m shafts with an extra hitching position kept an unbroken horse away from the vehicle body. This saved damage to the sulky if the horse started kicking. The brake was necessary to stop the horse from bolting. Colour: Black vehicle with red and yellow lining. History: Besides its usefulness in breaking in horses, this simple tray sulky was a handy general purpose vehicle for two passengers and a fair quantity of goods. (Bolton Collection) Registration: H14815
