Description:  The elegant canoe-shaped design has glass panels in the front and easily converts to an open carriage. It has longitudinal elliptical springs, and large “C” springs in the rear which provides a very comfortable ride. The outside steps which fold down when the door is opened were an innovation.

Colour:  Black body with dark blue undercarriage and wheels. A thick black line, edged both sides in white, features on the wheels. A royal crest adorns the door panel.

History:  The private coach of German origin seats up to four inside as well as the driver and footman on the box seat. These practical all-weather vehicles had become a status symbol by the end of the Victorian era. (Bolton Collection)
