Description: Impressive carriage seating four comfortably with a buggy boy’s seat at the rear. The slightly canoe-shaped body rests on leather thoroughbraces attached to the side reaches which have steam bent ends. This was a practical vehicle to travel over rough outback roads. A lower middle step on either side allows access via a second step to both the front and back seats. Most of these vehicles had hoods which are now missing but the fittings are intact. Colour: Dark green body with very fine yellow lining. Dark creamy-yellow undercarriage with black lining on the wheels. History: This was a well known vehicle on the Darling Downs belonging to Sir Joshua Peter Bell of Jimbour. Newspaper reports from the 1860s refer to the coach as a most impressive turn-out with four horses, driver and buggy boy decked out in the cerise and white livery of the Jimbour stables. Donated by Mr Francis Bell 1987 and restored by Cobb & Co. Museum 1990. Registration: H8309
