Blacksmithing Mini Workshop - Lost Trades Fair

Make a decorative flower pot hanger using traditional barley twisting & riveting in a 3 hr blacksmithing workshop during the Lost Trades Fair.


Prerequisite: Nil
Venue: Cobb+Co Museum, 27 Lindsay Street, Toowoomba
Date: Sunday 7 October 2017 (three hours only) during the Lost Trades Fair
Time: 1pm - 4pm 
Cost: $150, includes expert instruction and all materials
Age: 16 years and over
Requirements: Please wear closed in boots (or steel capped), long trousers and long sleeves

All our Blacksmithing Workshops have a maximum of 8 participants to ensure you receive all the assistance and direction you require.

On the day

Participants will learn the process of heating and forging metal to create a decorative flower pot hanger, using traditional barley twisting and riveting under the expert tuition of our resident champion blacksmith Terry Drennan.

Meet your tutor

Terry Drennan began training as a blacksmith and farrier in Melbourne when he was 21 years old. He has won the Australian champion in blacksmithing and farriery on many occasions. At the same time, Terry never lost the skills and enthusiasm for the other traditional facets of his trade such as making decorative gates and furniture. He has been teaching blacksmithing courses at Cobb+Co Museum for over 15 years.
