Have A Go! Festival returns with largest festival to date

23 January 2015

Over the weekend of 21+22 February, Cobb+Co Museum’s annual signature event will bring together award-winning artisans and experts in traditional trades to share their knowledge and skills with the wider community.

Cobb+Co Museum Director Deborah Bailey said the Festival, now in its 9th year, is the only one of its kind in Australia.

“There is nowhere else in the country that you can experience the range and sheer number of traditional skills and crafts offered in one location, over one weekend” Deborah said.

“This year we have expanded the Have A Go! Festival even further to include traditional skills in a wider sense.

“Heritage trades such as blacksmithing, leatherplaiting and ropemaking will sit alongside other aspects of sustainable living such as making your own soap, growing your own vegetables, raising your own chickens, and generally making your own fun!

“It is an entirely hands on festival where visitors are encouraged to try new skills and make their own pieces to take home – children can even make their own toys using recycled materials in the Kids Have A Go! section of the Festival”.

In another first for the Festival, Cobb+Co Museum will host local and regional food, beer and wine producers on the evening of Saturday 21 February.

Deborah Bailey said Have A Taste! is exciting an opportunity to learn from local producers as well as sample their wares.

“Have A Taste! will feature a wide range of producers including Toowoomba ethical farm From Paddock to Potager, Hampton-based producers of delicious relishes Apthorpe Farm, olive growers Bunnyconnellen, Stanthorpe’s Granite Belt Brewery, as well as locally produced honey, fermented foods, gelato and much more”, Deborah said.

“It is the ideal combination of quality food, live music and al fresco dining on a summer’s evening”.
